Giving thanks

The farm opens for one last market before Thanksgiving. With the season over, the chickens have gone to winter homes. But the kale is still growing, and there are still carrots and peppers to be had. Time for one last market and a pause to give thanks for a productive year.

Halloween at the farm

The last Sunday of the month, and the last open farm of the season save for right before Thanksgiving. The gang dress as the women of Jules Breton’s The Recall of the Gleaners for photographer Felicia Wong, then get down to work harvesting late-season veggies.

Winding down

As the farming season winds down, late-season crops like carrots, peppers and herbs are harvested and beds prepped for winter. In the afternoon, the folks from Rockaway Taco drop by for food and fun.

Fall at the farm

The arrival of fall brings cool, windy skies. Plants get pulled as thatch and rasdish seeds are sown for winter groundcover. The bunnies enjoy a rare day al fresco, and Annie leads a workshop on planting winter cover.
