    Semi-hemi

One more from the HemisFair grounds…

  • February 10, 2017

    Staring, structural

Another view of the HemisFair’s Tower of the Americas…

  • February 9, 2017

    Tower, looking upward

The Tower of the Americas, hovering over Hemisfair Park in San Antonio. That Kodak TMax 100 sure does love a sunny day.

    Creekside

There are shots that are perfectly exposed, and then there are images that need help. This is one of the latter, though I’m not entirely satisfied with the Lightrooming I did to this one (the leaf doesn’t quite “pop” as I’d like it to). Canon AL-1, 50/1.8 and Kodak TMax 400.

    Back to the water

After weeks absence, returning to find Barton Creek in full flow. Shooting TMax 400 through a blue filter, processed in EcoPro leads to a contrasty, grainy image I’m not too crazy with. But sometimes, you just need to get outside and shoot…

    Layers and legacies

More from Waco… looking up at the split architectural personality of the Alico Building.

  • January 25, 2017

    Wired in Waco

Kodak TMax 100 shot through a blue filter and the 50/1.8, then Lightroom’d appropriately. It will be interesting to see how a film print compares…

    Third leaf

Up far too early and restless, shooting in the studio. The usual Canon/Kodak suspects…

  • January 21, 2017

    A new(er) leaf

Every so often, I get a shot that just works. This is one of them. Al-1 w. the 50/2.8 macro; Kodak TMax 100.

    Houston x 3

In and around the Menil Collection with my SX-70 and a pack of expired Impossible Project instant film. Color skews way yellow; sculpture in the left-hand image is cherry red in real life. Sure makes incandescent fixtures look good, though…

  • January 3, 2017

    New leaf

New year, new views. Experimenting with the always-iffy Impossible film, this time using 600 b/w w. a red filter in my SX-70 and dialing down the exposure all the way.

    Looking up…

… down in San Antonio at the art museum, shooting Delta 3200 at 1600 ASA. Canon AL-1, 50/2.8 macro.

    Spin the black circle

Shooting Ilford Delta 3200 at its true ASA of 1600 with a Vivitar 50/2.8 macro in ambient light. Dark and dirty.

    Somewhere through there

Peering through the recent past on the East Side. Canon AL-1, 50/1.8 and TMax 100.

Exploring Pedernales State Park with the AL-1 and TMax 100.

    camera/camera

More from recent wanderings with the AL-1 and TMax 400.

    Lucky on East Sixth

Sometimes, you get a good shot even when it’s way too bright out and you’re standing in the middle of the street with cars headed your way. Kodak TMax 400 with the usual AL-1 setup.

    Under the bridge

This is what’s called a challenging light situation: strong, hazy morning light coming from above and around the bridge I’m standing beneath. Made more challenging by using Lomography Earl Grey, rather than more dynamic Kodak TMax 100. Definitely will need to revisit this space…

    Instant

Early morning moment caught w the Fuji Instax

  • October 28, 2016

the view from the back yard

Not crazy about Lomography Earl Gray 100; too flat. But with a little Lightroom jolt, it’ll suffice. AL-1, 50/1.8

  • October 28, 2016

    painting with light

cliché as it may be… my first experiments with long-exposure photography…plus a way to burn the lomo earl gray 100 film i bought (dislike)…

    Last weekend in Lockhart

Pulled the Zeiss Contaflex out of hibernation… Think I need to print this one.

  • October 11, 2016

    Polygons

This frame needs a fair amount of massaging in Lightroom to really bring out the contrasting detail (something I didn’t do). But there’s just so much going on graphically in this shot; I love it. The AL-1 and TMax 100 at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
